So, I was kind of at an impasse with the meditation room. None of the colors really seemed to be it. Gma was coming over anyway so I waited and asked advice from her and Jessica.
They didn’t really like any of the colors either, which surprised me. Some of the first batch and third batch seemed more appealing. They did gravitate to the master bedroom. It pops. The 2 color with large chair rail is really nice.
Their suggestion was to duplicate the pattern of the master in the mediation room. Where the MBR went brown the Med. room would be green. From the hallway you can see into both rooms. So, this will be a bit symmetrical.
I’m very pleased with this idea. Multiple colors is what I was aiming for, but a whole wall section in a color didn’t really click. The idea of 2 color with chair rail is a good repeated pattern, providing a dark and light shading.
We picked the lower color easily. I taped some appropriately painted left over shoe molding to the wall and painted two of the lighter samples. It’s drying now and will look quite a bit different in the morning.
I think that these 2 are too light. It needs to be just a shade greener. These are touch to yellow. The correlation with the green isn’t as strong as it needs to be. Overall, it’s very close.
The chair rail will be easy to install compared to the shoe molding I just did. I have to pick the pattern, less than 2.5″ to be smaller than the MBR.
When this is done, this room will really pop. It felt good when Jessica complained about getting to the kitchen sooner. All the other projects have really come out well. When the house is done I won’t want to let it go. LOL.
It also sets new standards on the windows, which need something to dress them up. Everyone agrees. Right now, I’m thinking of adding a window sill board and fabric helix(?) blinds with the attached pulley string. Jessica agreed that 2 blinds was good, because the windows open sideways and you can open one blind on the open side.
I’m excited. Chris-n-Staci sent me a link to $2/sq ft bamboo flooring. Very nice. It’s glue/nail down, so I think I’ll stick with Lumber Liquidators or Lowe’s for now, because I prefer floating if I can get it. Gma will be in Portland for Easter, so there’s no reason to go home and I already took off that Fri & Mon. I guess a lot will get done then.
